What it is
Overview is where every client opens. The KPI row sums up how AI engines treat the brand for its buyer questions; the chart splits the trend by engine; the side panels show real-world signals, data health and this week's top fixes.
Every rate carries its margin of error and n, the number of answers behind it, so you never report a number the data can't support.
Why it matters for AI search
Buyers increasingly ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI features instead of searching. Overview tells you whether the brand is in those answers, recommended in them and cited as a source, and how that compares with competitors.
How to use it
Step by step, as in the video
- Client overview. Overview is the client's dashboard: how visible the brand is in AI answers, and whether that is changing.
- Simulated weekly checks badge. Simulated weekly checks: optmz asks AI engines the client's buyer questions every week. These are not real users' chats.
- Demo data badge. Demo data marks sample numbers. A real client is measured the same way, every week.
- Mention rate. Mention rate is the share of AI answers that name the brand. Below it: the margin of error and how many answers it rests on.
- Recommendation rate. Recommendation rate counts answers that actively recommend the brand, not just mention it.
- Citation coverage. Citation coverage is the share of answers that cite at least one page of the client's own site.
- Share of voice. Share of voice compares the brand's mentions with those of every tracked competitor.
- Share of answer. Share of answer compares the brand with every brand the answers name, tracked or not.
- Avg position. Avg position is where the brand appears in the answer's list when it is mentioned. Lower is better.
- Real change vs too small to call. Each change is tested against the 4 weeks before: a real change is very unlikely to be chance, one too small to call yet could be.
- Engine chart. The chart splits the trend by AI engine. Hover a point for its n and range, or click it to read those answers.
- Real signals. Real signals come from the real world, like visits from AI tools recorded by the optmz tag.
- Data health badge. Data health checks every day that each connected source is fresh and complete.
- Setup badge. Setup counts the live data sources. Each one you connect adds real evidence to the dashboard.
- Top actions. Top actions are this week's most valuable fixes. The next video covers them.
Questions
Are these numbers from real ChatGPT users?
No. The KPI row comes from simulated weekly checks: optmz asks each engine the client's buyer questions every week and reads the answers. Real-world signals, such as visits from AI tools, are shown separately and labelled Real.
What is the difference between share of voice and share of answer?
Share of voice counts only the competitors you track. Share of answer counts every brand the answers name, so it shows rivals you haven't added yet.
Why does a number have a range?
AI answers vary from one run to the next, so every rate is an estimate from a sample. “Likely between” gives the range the true value sits in 95 times out of 100, and the badge (Reliable, Good estimate, Early estimate, Collecting) says how wide that range is.
